Connective tissues originate from the mesoderm and serve to protect, support, & connect other tissues throughout the human body. Under the umbrella of “connective tissue”, there are two main categories to consider: connective tissue proper (dense & loose), and specialized connective tissue (e.g. adipose, blood, bone, cartilage, reticular).
